Dr Mujtaba Hassan (PhD)

Research Profile

Dr. Hassan is a Hydro-climatologist with over 08 years of cutting-edge research and teaching experience in prestigious institutes including Tsinghua University China (ranked 20th in the world according to QS-2024) and the Institute of Space Technology (IST), Pakistan. His primary research focuses on weather and climate extremes, hydroclimate modeling, glaciers’ dynamics and their hydrologic response, climate change impact assessment on water resources, advanced machine learning techniques for climate downscaling, aerosol-climate interaction, and environmental and health impact of air pollution. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor and Head at the Department of Space Science, Institute of Space Technology Islamabad Pakistan. During his career, Dr. Hassan developed and taught various courses at the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) levels. He is also working as a Regular Associate at the Earth System Physics section of the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy. He is an invited reviewer for more than 10 world-leading high-impact journals such as Climate Dynamics, Atmospheric Research, Water Resources Management, and Journal of Hydrology.
